Michelle Simmons portrait selected as finalist in the 2023 Archibald Prize

SQC’s CEO and Founder, Michelle Simmons, recently had the honour of working with artist Charles Mouyat, who’s portrait of her has been selected as a finalist in the 2023 Archibald Prize.
We asked Charles about his inspiration for the portrait. He said, “What mattered most to me in entering this year was that my subject mattered. I read about Michelle’s mind-blowing work, and found in her the perfect subject — especially in a zeitgeist where we are challenged by the rapid changes that computing has afforded us. Michelle is not only a titanic intellect, she proved to be wholly generous and was happy to experiment on her image. To this end, I sought to express her warmth and generosity in my portrait.”
Michelle was proud to witness Charles’ talent first hand, saying “Charles put a tremendous amount of thought into his work. He is an intensely spiritual and bold artist. I hope others enjoy his talents as much as I do.”
